How To Use

Before You Start Ensure:

The application procedure is conducted in a well-ventilated area and the provided nitrile gloves are always used when applying the coating.

Prepare The Surface:

For effective adhesion and longevity, surface preparation prior to coating is paramount. Without correct and proper preparation, the coating will have a short-lived final finish.

GrapheneX1 works by cross-linking to the surface that it’s applied to, hence surface cleaning is an essential part of the process to avoid contamination between the coating and the surface to be protected.

Weather:

GrapheneX1 must be applied in a clean, dry environment with no rain forecast for a minimum 4-hour period if application is outside. If strong winds are present, coating should not take place due to the coating flashing off too quickly.

Temperature:

Application should not occur in direct sunlight or during the hotter parts of the day. The coatings should be applied in an ambient temperature above 5°C and no higher than 35°C. This temperature range also applies to the surface temperature of the substrate. Additionally, the temperature must stay within these parameters for a minimum of 12 hours after application.

CoatPrep Application CoatPrep Wipe

Clean & Decontaminate

Ensure the vehicle surface has been thoroughly washed and cleaned. Typically where required this would include a Pre-Wash with either PowerXTFR / NeutralXTFR or CitraCleanse, followed by ProSno or ProAlpine snow foam. The vehicle should also have been shampooed with either HydroLux or PearlLux shampoo. Use the ClayGlider clay bar with InstaDetail to finally remove any bonded contaminants the washing process can’t remove. For heavily contaminated surfaces or used surfaces a full polish/detail may also be required to get the paint finish to an acceptable standard prior to coating.

Once clean, the vehicle surface needs to be de-contaminated using the CoatPrep solution provided in the kit. This ensures any remaining residues from waxes, silicones and other contamination are removed.

  • Spray the surface: Start by spraying the provided CoatPrep solution to an area of 2 metres squared at a time as shown in photo 1. Begin wiping the solution across the surface to decontaminate and remove any waxes/silicones.
  • Wipe and dry: Use a dry microfibre cloth to remove any excess fluid, creating a clean, contaminant-free and dry surface as shown in photo 2. Repeat the process across the other areas of the vehicle. Where applicable, replace the microfibre with a clean one as soon as it becomes dirty.

    Applying the Hybrid Coating

Using one of the provided ceramic coating applicators, dampen the top third of the applicator with the coating until it’s wet, but not dripping (as shown in photo). Typically this only needs 5–7 drops from the pipette.

Begin with one area and coat one area of 1–2 square metres at a time, ensuring that each panel is gently worked horizontally, then vertically, for an even spread of the coating. This method is known as cross-hatching as shown in the photo.

Allow the coating to sit for no more than 30 seconds before taking a clean, dry, microfibre cloth to begin the buffing process.

    Gentle Buffing

Using a clean microfiber cloth, gently buff all of the area that has been coated to remove any excess residue.

After the initial buff, you may see a slight haze or smear effect under an inspection light.

If this is the case, begin gently wiping along the surface again with a second microfibre cloth. Continue this until the smears can no longer be seen and you have the perfect finish. Keep turning the cloth to a new clean side after a few passes to ensure proper buffing is occurring and the coating is not re-spreading.

If applied correctly, the surface should be very slick to the touch compared to the uncoated surface.

Repeat Process in a New Area

Once the buffing process is complete, repeat the aforementioned steps by first selecting a new area of the surface to be coated. It is important to note that after the first application you may only need 3–5 drops as the ceramic coating applicator becomes saturated.

To make the process more efficient, having multiple people is ideal. This way as one person applies the coating using the cross-hatching method, the other person can follow shortly after in synchronisation with the buffing and levelling.

Please note in some cases if the product has been left on for too long and becomes difficult to remove and create a nice shine with, simply re-wet the area with the applicator pad and instantly buff to a shine with a microfibre cloth. Do not allow the coating to cure with streaks and a rainbow.

Once the coating is complete, do not wash your car for 24–48 hours.

Now you can sit back, admire and enjoy the unparalleled 1-year protection and slick gloss that GrapheneX1 provides your vehicle.

    Product Maintenance & Aftercare

Always store in a cool, well-ventilated area keeping containers tightly closed.

After treatment ensure you only use pH Neutral cleaners on the coated surface, such as ProSno Snow Foam & HydroLux / PearlLux pH Neutral Shampoo.

For contact washes always use the 2-bucket wash method, using the AquaCleanse wash mitt and AquaLux drying towel and ensuring no scratches occur with the Dual Guard Grit Guard package.

Additionally, after maintenance washes it is advisable to use AquaVeil Ceramic Detailer after 6 months to help maintain the hydrophobic properties of the coating. Alternatively, NanoCoat nano sealant is also a great product for regular use every 3 months for added shine and hydrophobic properties.

A: At Car Dynamics we have formulated our ceramic and graphene coatings with the highest quality ingredients, ensuring long-lasting protection and ease of application. Our ceramic and graphene coatings are manufactured in the UK with the emphasis on quality and affordability for our customers. Our comprehensive kits include the highest grade of applicators and cloths making it simple for the seasoned professional as well as the keen DIYer.

Q: Will GrapheneX1 hide scratches or swirl marks?

A: No. Graphene coatings are not fillers. They may slightly mask micro-marring due to added gloss, but we recommend machine polishing the paint first for the best final finish using a product such as 3M Perfect-It Ultra Fina SE Polish.

Q: I own a detailing company. Do you offer discounts for detailing companies if there are bulk orders?

A: Yes, absolutely. We partner with several professional detailing companies across the world that use our products. If you would like to discuss special pricing for a bulk order please contact us at info@cardynamics.co.uk.
